The MÜHLE Shaving Culture: Decades of Craftsmanship and Sustainable Shaving
In 1945, Otto Johannes Müller founded the MÜHLE business after returning from the war, creating the first shaving brushes and designing the iconic MÜHLE signet. Over the decades, the company has weathered significant changes, but has remained dedicated to producing the finest quality shaving products.
In 1965, Hans-Jürgen Müller took over the company, which had grown to 40 employees, and MÜHLE began exporting its products to 36 countries. However, in 1972, under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, Hans-Jürgen Müller was forced to sell the company, and it became a state-owned enterprise. In 1987, the business was rebranded and only manufactured brushes for the state, with Hans-Jürgen Müller becoming a self-employed brush maker.
The tide turned in 1990 when a new Europe emerged, and Hans-Jürgen Müller regained the family business, trading as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG, with the MÜHLE signet remaining. The company struggled to survive after reunification, but gradually won new customers and rehired former employees. By 2006, the offering had expanded to a full range of wet shaving goods, and the MÜHLE brand came to the fore.
In 2021, MÜHLE launched the first safety razor designed with the needs of all users in mind, regardless of gender, continuing its legacy of innovation and craftsmanship.
MÜHLE's shaving products are designed and manufactured in Germany, where a skilled workforce has handcrafted the finest shaving tools for discerning gentlemen for three generations. The company is committed to maintaining the high standards, dedication, and pioneering developments of the past, while educating people on the ritual of the best wet shave.
Customers can choose from different types of razor blades, including Gillette Mach3 multi-blade razors, Gillette Fusion multi-blade razors, and double-edge safety razors, each offering a unique shaving experience. The centerpiece of wet shaving is the shaving brush, and MÜHLE offers a wide range of ergonomic handles and natural badger hair or synthetic fiber options.
To ensure the longevity of their products, MÜHLE also offers a range of stylish chrome-plated shaving stands for storing and drying razors and brushes after use.
As a member of the Environmental Alliance of Saxony, MÜHLE is committed to sustainability and cooperates with suppliers who uphold the same high standards. This commitment to quality and the environment is reflected in every MÜHLE product, from the handcrafted, unique items to the serially produced goods.
